Teen Summer Read Has Begun!

Steely McBeam draws a noun card @ Summer Reading Extravaganza 2008The Summer Reading Extravaganza is over, which means Teen Summer Read has officially begun. And with over 350 teens registered (176 registered at Extravaganza), Pittsburgh teens are definitely off to a great start. If you haven't signed up yet, head on over to the Teen Summer Reading 2008 page ASAP to get in on all the fun.

Why join Teen Summer Read? For starters, if you sign up here at the Main library, you get a free book--to keep! Also, for every item you read (whether books, graphic novels, manga, magazines, websites, zines, etc.), you enter into a weekly prize drawing at your home library. Each library will be drawing winners for $10 gift cards to Best Buy & Target, as well as figuring out fun and exciting ways to give out $25 gift cards to American Eagle over the course of the summer.

Of course, there's also two major prizes. One teen at each library will win a Creative Muvo MP3 player. One extra lucky Pittsburgh teen will win LIMO RIDE TO KENNYWOOD for them and five friends (make sure that you read at least one book and fill out our evaluation form)!

We also have lots of fun stuff for teens happening at our libraries all summer. Keep checking the Teens @ Your Library page for more information. If you're creatively inclined, keep your eyes peeled for the Quick Flix teen video contest.

We look forward to seeing you at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh this summer. Stay cool!
